ASK-THE- EXPERT

SESSION

Sometimes you just need a minute — or sixty — of someone’s time. We opened up this offering as an “ask-me-anything” service. Book a virtual Zoom call, come prepared with questions, photos, inspiration imagery, etc… and ask anything for one hour. During this call, Sarah Hart will run through solutions, offer products and advice, color suggestions, etc, whatever you need! We ask that you come prepared with as many photos and videos as possible to make the most of your time with the designer.

OUR DESIGN PROCESS

OUR DESIGN PROCESS

The design phase typically spans 3–5 months (or longer, depending on the scope). During this time, we’ll spend intentional time together getting to know you: how you live, what you value, and what your home needs to truly support your lifestyle, your story and your preferences. Every decision we make is rooted in understanding you. Our goal is to create a home that feels distinctly yours and rooted to the architecture of your home, not a reflection of trends or anyone else’s style.

We take care of every detail so you don’t have to. From concept to completion, our role is to make the process seamless and enjoyable, guiding every decision and coordinating every moving part.We believe a home should feel collected, not decorated. It should unfold over time, layered with meaning and intention. Every material, finish, and furnishing is chosen to reflect your individuality and create a sense of timeless, livable luxury.

1. DISCOVERY CALL

First, we will schedule a discovery call to determine if Sarah Hart Interior Design is the right fit for your project.  During this call, we will want to learn a little more about you, your project, scope, budget and timeline.

2. PROPOSAL + CONTRACT

After the discover call (and potentially an in-person consultation), we will send over our interior design service proposal and contract. This will run you through our fees, deliverables, what you can expect and a few more details about our process. A deposit will be collected and we will send you a new client questionnaire to fill out. This gives us a jump start on getting to know you and your project goals.

3. SCHEMATIC DESIGN

In this phase we will develop a high level design direction, nail down space plans and finalize a budget. Then, we will present our design concepts and ultimately develop our design language. During this phase, we’re also assembling the proper team (GC, architect, etc). This phase may feel a bit slow, but I promise, we’re setting ourselves up for success once we nail down our budget and team.

TYPICAL TIMELINE: APPROXIMATELY 4-6 WEEKS

4. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

This phase is when specifics come together. Samples are gathered and specific materials are selected. This is when the vision comes to life and the pieces of the puzzle come together. We ask that our clients prepare to spend $250-400 on samples throughout their project. Payment for samples will be collected with the first round of materials payments.

TYPICAL TIMELINE: APPROXIMATELY 6-8 WEEKS (WILL LIKELY OVERLAP SLIGHTLY WITH THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASE)

5. DESIGN DOCUMENTATION

Now that we have our materials selected, this is where we put together all necessary construction and design documentation / drawings, spec sheets, and a product information spreadsheet (otherwise known as a “schedule” in GC-terms). You and your contractor will have access to all necessary documents in a shared Dropbox folder throughout the process. This is essentially the Construction Guide specifically created for your project and selections.

TYPICAL TIMELINE: 2-6 WEEKS (WILL LIKELY OVERLAP SLIGHTLY WITH THE DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PHASE)

6. PROCUREMENT + INSTALLATION

Throughout the design process, all items are entered into our design management software. Once materials and/or furnishings are selected, we send the client a proposal, collect payment and place all orders. We then keep a close eye throughout production and shipping through to delivery and storage. We monitor arrivals via a receiving warehouse who receives, inspects and photographs all items that arrive. We can then facilitate any returns or repairs if any items arrive damages or incorrect so you install day runs smoothly!

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, TYPICAL LEAD TIMES FOR CUSTOM ITEMS RANGE FROM 8-12 WEEKS (AND LONGER) PLUS SHIPPING.
